Delay is Deadly

Because I was away tending to family matters for 8 days, I came home to vegetable plots that look the worse for wear. The arugula is wondering what the heck I asked it to grow for if I wasn’t intending to eat it.

After 8 days off, I find myself procrastinating in getting out there to tend to the inevitable: weeding, cleaning out the chicken coop, turning over and watering the compost pile, pulling out the plants Whose Time Has Come.

Maybe tomorrow, I tell myself. But I know better. When you’re tending to a farm, not matter how small, waiting until tomorrow can mean the difference between eating something later on, or not.
